If the garment turns with you, it is live. If you submitted a picture and waited for a result, it is generated.

A generated still tends to flatter, because it resolves an ambiguous body into a plausible one. Rendering onto a live feed leaves less room to guess, so the result is less forgiving and more useful.
The reason people try clothes on in shops isn't information, it's reaction. You get that from seeing yourself move in something, in a second, not from studying a render.
